Moab Support Forum > Best Moab Paper for Milky Way Prints

Could you provide a recommendation for the best Moab paper to use for printing Milky Way images with a Canon Imageprograf 1000? In addition I’ve been unable to find the Dmax values for any Moab papers. Where might I find this information?

Thanks

Curt,
For your Milky Way prints, I would recommend the Slickrock Pearl. It is a photo black paper so you will get the rich colors present in the sky, and the white metallic brings a luminous quality to the prints.

As for Dmax, we don't have ratings for our papers because it is directly dependent on the ink used for printing. Slickrock Pearl will have a different Dmax number for Canon, Epson, and HP inks. A more useful metric of black density is to use the minimum L* value from the profile. On the PRO-1000 the Slickrock Pearl has a minimum L* value of 3.
